Locals spotted the smoke and alerted the police and fire services. City CI Srinivas Raju and Third Town SI Haribabu reached the location with their teams. Firefighters arrived within minutes and launched efforts to control the blaze.
However, intense heat and rising flames kept the teams outside. Firefighters worked for nearly two hours and finally brought the fire under control. Bank officers and staff also reached the site during the operation.
After the flames subsided, police and bank employees entered the hall and checked the damage. They found 25 computers, seven AC units and several important documents reduced to ash.
Third Town SI Haribabu said they opened a case based on a complaint from branch manager Varanasi Ranjith. He added that investigators are now examining whether an electrical short circuit triggered the fire or if other causes need attention.
