Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and his wife Sudha Dev Varma joined Bathukamma celebrations at Raj Bhavan on Monday evening. The couple marked the state’s floral festival with traditional rituals and cultural fervour.
Sudha Dev Varma led the procession, carrying the decorated Bathukamma to the lawns of the Governor’s residence. She then joined Raj Bhavan Pariwar members in singing and dancing around the flower displays. The celebrations reflected the spirit of Telangana’s heritage festival.
The Governor and his wife extended greetings to women across Telangana and the global diaspora. Bathukamma songs filled the evening as Sudha Dev Varma circled the arrangements with other participants. She later immersed the flowers in the Raj Bhavan pond, concluding the ceremony.

Several dignitaries attended the event, including spouses of IAS, IPS and IFS officers. Senior officials and staff members were also present. The celebrations underscored Bathukamma’s cultural value, symbolising community unity and devotion.
