Telangana CM meets Rahul, Kharge; seeks Parliament support for caste census, BC quota

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka met with Opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi during their two-day visit, seeking national support for caste census and enhanced reservations for Backward Classes (BCs).

The meeting took place at Kharge’s residence at 10 AM, where CM Revanth Reddy submitted details of Telangana’s recent caste census, conducted using scientific methods.

He briefed the Congress leadership on the state’s legislative move to provide 42% reservation to BCs in education, employment, services, and local bodies. The bill has already been passed by both the State Assembly and Legislative Council and sent to the Centre.

The discussion also covered Telangana’s current political landscape and social demographics. Revanth Reddy urged Rahul Gandhi and Kharge to raise the demand for a nationwide caste census and reservation reform during the Parliament session.

Also present were Telangana Congress in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Konda Surekha and Srihari, MP Mallu Ravi, and other senior leaders.
