Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that the new ministers in his cabinet will be assigned portfolios drawn from the departments he currently holds. Speaking informally with the media in Delhi before concluding his three-day visit, he clarified that no discussions on cabinet expansion or the allocation of new ministries took place during his time in the national capital.
Reddy explained that all decisions regarding ministerial portfolios would be finalised only after consulting with party leaders upon his return to Hyderabad. His Delhi visit, he noted, was focused primarily on discussions with party leadership regarding caste-based census in Karnataka, and exploring similar proposals for Telangana.
For now, the Chief Minister retains charge of 11 key portfolios, including Home and Municipal Administration. However, he did not specify which departments would go to which ministers. Reddy indicated that there would be little change from the previous distribution of responsibilities, with most ministers likely to retain their existing departments.
Turning his attention to the opposition, Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack on the BRS and the KCR family, accusing them of being the biggest enemies of Telangana. He compared BRS leaders’ political theatrics to a “Basha Gang” from an old Telugu film, accusing them of stage-managing issues to grab media attention.
He also alleged that KCR, KTR, Harish Rao, and Kishan Reddy were all complicit in working against the interests of Telangana. The Chief Minister promised that in a few days he would address the media in detail about the Kaleshwaram project, pledging to make key documents public. He further accused Union Minister Kishan Reddy of deliberately stalling Telangana’s development initiatives.
