Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP on Tuesday reacted sharply to the SIT inquiry against former minister T Harish Rao in the phone tapping case, alleging that the Congress and BRS were jointly staging a political drama.
Telangana BJP president Ramachander Rao accused the government of delaying the probe through what he called a token investigation. He questioned whether the authorities had arrested even a single person so far in the case.
During an interaction with a news channel, Ramachander Rao claimed the Congress government was showing undue sympathy towards BRS leaders. He also alleged that phone tapping played a decisive role in the BJP’s defeat in the Munugode by-election.
Despite the seriousness of the allegations, he said, the government failed to act decisively. Instead, he accused it of dragging the inquiry without reaching clear conclusions.
Harish Rao appears before SIT, targets Revanth Reddy government
Meanwhile, amid the SIT notices, Harish Rao appeared for questioning at the Jubilee Hills Police Station on Tuesday. Before entering the station, he released a video message criticising the A Revanth Reddy government.
In the video message, Harish Rao alleged that the SIT issued notices to him as part of diversionary politics. According to him, the government was attempting to intimidate him through repeated summons and inquiries.
Addressing the Chief Minister directly, he said no number of notices would silence him. He asserted his faith in the judiciary and reiterated that he had committed no wrongdoing.
After receiving the notice at 9 pm, Harish Rao said he travelled from Siddipet to Hyderabad without hesitation. He added that he would provide clear and factual answers to all questions raised by the SIT.
Warning the government, Harish Rao said he would continue to expose what he described as corruption. He also said he would keep pressing the Congress until it implemented its six guarantees, which he termed “420 promises.”
