HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President, Mahesh Kumar Goud, has issued a challenge to Union Minister Bandi Sanjay, questioning whether the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has the resolve to include the Backward Classes (BC) Reservation Bill in the 9th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
Goud accused both the BJP and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of attempting to create controversies surrounding the caste census in Telangana. He announced that upon completion of the re-survey, a special assembly session would be convened in March to introduce and pass a bill granting 42% reservations to BCs. This bill would then be forwarded to the central government, with efforts to secure its approval in Parliament.
Addressing Bandi Sanjay and other BJP leaders, Goud challenged them to persuade Prime Minister Narendra Modi to place the BC Reservation Bill in the 9th Schedule. He also questioned whether they could convince the central government to conduct a nationwide caste census. Goud criticized BJP leaders for diverting attention from the issue by raising questions about Rahul Gandhi’s caste and religion. He called for unity among BC communities to support the reservation bill.
