Telangana Assembly to take up key municipal, taxation bills today

Hyderabad: Telangana Assembly will take up several key government bills today, Friday, January 2, marking the second day of the seventh session of the Third Telangana Legislative Assembly.

As per the official list of business, the House will meet at 10 am on Friday. Members will begin proceedings with Question Hour and then take up papers laid on the table.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will place before the House the report of the Business Advisory Committee. The report relates to decisions taken at the committee meeting held on December 29, 2025.

Telangana Assembly to debate major amendment bills

The Assembly agenda includes the introduction, discussion and passage of several important bills. The Chief Minister will move the Telangana Municipalities (Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2025, during the session.

He will also introduce and seek passage of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025.

The House will also consider and pass the Telangana Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2025.

Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar will introduce the Telangana Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill, 2025. He will also place two Gazette notifications related to motor vehicles taxation before the House.

The Assembly will later hold a short discussion on the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Assembly Secretary Rendla Thirupathi issued the list of business on January 1, 2026.
