Hyderabad: Director General of Police Shivdhar Reddy stated that incorporating available technology into policing would yield remarkable results and enhance law enforcement across Telangana.
Addressing probationary DSPs at the Telangana Police Academy on Saturday, the DGP said effective use of technology was crucial for the force to achieve its goal of becoming the best police organisation in the country. He said curbing cybercrime and drug-related offences remained the top priorities of the Telangana Police.
The DGP stated that policing had undergone significant evolution over the years. He noted that while the police earlier functioned primarily as a force, they were now working as a service-oriented organisation focused on public welfare.
Technology in policing strengthens coordination and efficiency
Shivdhar Reddy said Telangana Police had earned national recognition through efficient traffic and crowd management using drone surveillance. He added that technology-driven policing had improved both preventive and responsive measures on the ground.
He also highlighted coordination between the police, courts and prisons departments through platforms such as CCTNS and ICJS, which he said had improved transparency and efficiency in the criminal justice system.
Telangana Police Academy Director Abhilasha Bist, Deputy Directors Kavitha and Madhukaraswamy, Assistant Director Narahari, DSPs Rama Rao and Devareddy, along with academy staff, attended the programme.
