Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to hold MLA disqualification hearings today and tomorrow

Hyderabad: Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar will conduct hearings today and tomorrow on disqualification petitions against four MLAs. Moreover, he will continue the proceedings on November 12 and 13.

Lawyers for both the MLAs and the petitioners will present their arguments and cross-examine witnesses. The Speaker recently completed hearings for another set of four MLAs and has now taken up the remaining petitions.

MLA disqualification hearings in Telangana continue under tight security

The current hearings involve Bhadrachalam MLA Tellam Venkata Rao, Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Jagtial MLA Sanjay, and Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi.

On Thursday, the first session begins at 11 a.m. with BRS MLA KP Vivekanand versus Tellam Venkata Rao. Then, at 12 noon, BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy will argue his case against Sanjay. On November 7, the hearings will continue with Jagadish Reddy versus Pocharam Srinivas Reddy at 11 a.m., followed by Kalvakuntla Sanjay versus Arekapudi Gandhi at 12 noon.

Furthermore, the Speaker will resume these cases on November 12 and 13 for extended arguments. By then, he expects to finish hearings for all eight MLAs.

Meanwhile, the Speaker has enforced strict restrictions inside the Assembly complex. He banned media, visitors, and political leaders from entering the area. Police deployed heavy security around the Assembly to maintain order throughout the proceedings.
