HYDERABAD: Telangana’s prominent political analyst and former MLC Professor Nageshwar has strongly reacted to the rumours surrounding IAS officer Smita Sabharwal’s potential entry into politics. He questioned whether Sabharwal, if genuinely committed to public welfare, had ever raised concerns about irregularities or lack of transparency during the BRS regime.
Professor Nageshwar remarked that while it is a personal decision for any bureaucrat to enter politics, adopting double standards is not acceptable. He pointed out that during a time when public issues were often overlooked under BRS governance, Smita Sabharwal remained conspicuously silent.
He further stated that as an officer close to the government, her silence invites scrutiny. If she now intends to join politics, he said, she should publicly clarify her position and intentions. He urged the public to choose their leaders wisely, not based on sentiment but through informed judgment.
Nageshwar’s comments have quickly gone viral on social media, sparking widespread debate on Sabharwal’s past and present role. While some users praised her integrity and professional conduct, others questioned her political motives.
So far, Smita Sabharwal has not issued any official confirmation or denial regarding her political ambitions. Nonetheless, the speculation surrounding her name continues to stir the political atmosphere in the state.
