Hyderabad: Three people, including two children and a woman, drowned in a tragic incident at a check dam in Siddipet district on Saturday evening. The victims were recent migrants from Bihar who had arrived in Kasturipalli village, Chinnakodur mandal, just five days ago in search of work.
According to police, 12-year-old Kirani Kumar and 6-year-old Birju went to bathe near the local check dam. Both boys slipped and fell into deep water. Uma Devi (32), who noticed the boys struggling, rushed to rescue them but also drowned, as she did not know how to swim.
Local residents informed the police, who arrived promptly and began search operations with community help. The bodies of all three victims were retrieved later that evening. Police confirmed that Uma Devi was the mother of one of the deceased boys.
