SHE Teams Hyderabad resolve 1,149 complaints, nab 3,826 in 2025

Hyderabad: The SHE Teams Hyderabad unit resolved 1,149 harassment-related complaints and apprehended 3,826 individuals in 2025, according to data released on National Voters’ Day. The specialised wing of Hyderabad Police operated using surveillance, decoy operations, and digital forensics to curb gender-based offences.

Officials said the swift interventions provided critical relief in several high-risk cases. In one instance, a young woman facing blackmail over personal photographs was rescued through immediate police action. In another case, a working professional who was persistently stalked despite blocking the accused was offered legal protection and support.

A 22-year-old survivor, who was digitally harassed after a fallout with an acquaintance, said, “I was paralysed by fear. But the SHE Teams acted with such sensitivity that I finally felt safe again.”

Digital blackmail emerged as the most reported crime in 2025, with 366 complaints involving threats over private images or video calls. Offenders often posed as friends on platforms like Facebook or Instagram, then used private content to extort victims.

The SHE Teams also resolved 121 cases involving midnight internet harassment and 82 complaints of fake profiles or obscene WhatsApp content. In 50 cases, forensic tools helped trace anonymous callers behind abusive messages. Additionally, 98 breach-of-promise-to-marry cases led to criminal action and counselling support for victims.

Field teams conducted ground surveillance in public spaces including bus stands and colleges. Most of the 3,826 individuals caught were counselled, but serious cases resulted in FIRs and arrests.

Hyderabad Police urged the public to report harassment by dialling 100 or messaging the SHE Teams on WhatsApp at 949061655.
