Shabbir Ali says only Congress can protect 4% Muslim reservation

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and Telangana Government Adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir Ali said only the Congress party is committed and capable enough to protect the 4% Muslim reservation and uphold the rights of marginalized communities. He appealed to voters in Jubilee Hills to support Congress candidate Naveen Yadav in the November 11 bypoll.

Congress credited for historic Muslim quota

Speaking at a public meeting at Janapriya Grounds in Erragadda, Shabbir Ali stressed the impact of the Muslim reservation introduced by Congress in 2004–05. He said the policy helped nearly 22 lakh financially disadvantaged Muslims pursue education in medicine, engineering, MBA, and MCA.

“This historic decision opened doors for thousands of families,” he said. “Congress alone has the political will to protect and continue such progressive policies.”

Naveen Yadav’s win will signal support

Shabbir Ali noted that a win for Naveen Yadav would affirm public support for the Congress government’s welfare-driven agenda. He said the by-election offers voters a chance to back policies that benefit low-income and backward communities.

“Your vote for Naveen is a vote for justice, equity, and social progress,” he said.

Congress to challenge Waqf amendment

Shabbir Ali reaffirmed Congress’s plan to legally challenge the Waqf Amendment Act in the Supreme Court. He described the battle as a combined legal, social, and political fight to protect minority rights.

“This is not just a legal issue it is a broader fight against the BJP and other forces that threaten inclusive governance,” he said.

BRS acting as BJP’s secret partner, says Shabbir

He warned voters not to be misled by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), calling it a “covert ally” of the BJP. According to him, the BRS helped the BJP pass several controversial laws by dividing the secular vote.

“Voting for BRS while assuming it’s secular is like helping the BJP,” he said. “They supported the BJP at least 14 times and betrayed the people of Telangana.”

Shabbir Ali also highlighted recent welfare schemes introduced by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. These include fine rice distribution, new ration cards, 200 free electricity units for low-income families, and free bus travel for women. He said continued public support would allow the government to expand these services.

In closing, Shabbir Ali urged Jubilee Hills voters to reject divisive politics and vote for the Congress hand symbol on polling day.

“Each vote for Congress is a vote to protect reservation, secure justice, and uphold secular values,” he said.
