Hyderabad: Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Saturday offered floral tributes at Bibi Ka Alawa in Dabeerpura, paying homage to Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions martyred at Karbala. Shabbir Ali presented flowers and ‘dhatti’ to the Bibi Ka Alam-e-Mubarak during the mourning days of Moharram, observing traditions respected by lakhs of devotees across Hyderabad.
He was joined by Hyderabad District Congress Committee President Waliullah Sameer, TPCC spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin, Charminar constituency in-charge Mujeebullah Shareef, Yakutpura in-charge Rajender Raju, and other senior Congress leaders. Addressing the gathering, Shabbir Ali praised the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA) and described his struggle as an inspiration for justice and truth.
Shabbir Ali condemned Israeli attacks in Gaza, calling the killing of thousands, including women and children, barbaric. He urged the global community to step in and halt the bloodshed, warning that silence in the face of such brutality was unacceptable.
Speaking on local arrangements, Shabbir Ali said the Congress government was committed to ensuring dignified and safe Moharram events across Telangana. He highlighted efforts to arrange a traditional elephant for carrying the Bibi Ka Alam, maintaining a centuries-old practice despite logistical hurdles. According to him, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had approved the procurement of two elephants to serve in official, religious, and cultural processions, aimed at safeguarding Telangana’s shared heritage.
He commended the Hyderabad district administration for comprehensive measures including security, sanitation, and emergency services to protect public convenience.
Shabbir Ali said Hyderabad’s Moharram, known for its scale and communal harmony, drew lakhs of people of all faiths to commemorate Karbala’s martyrs. The Bibi Ka Alawa procession, dating back to Qutb Shahi and Nizam eras, stood as a testament to unity and courage, he noted. Shabbir Ali assured continued Congress support to preserve these spiritual and cultural legacies.
