Seethakka slams BRS for misleading claims on saree distribution program

Hyderabad: Minister Seethakka criticised the BRS leadership for spreading misinformation about the state’s saree distribution program. She said women’s groups selected the designs and colours. However, BRS leaders attacked the patterns without checking facts, and their remarks discouraged women who welcomed the initiative.

Seethakka counters BRS criticism with evidence on saree quality

Seethakka accused Harish Rao and other BRS leaders of reacting sharply whenever women progressed in society. Moreover, she questioned why they ignored the joy expressed by girls who received sarees. She said their frustration grew only because women appreciated the new designs.

The minister explained that the government sourced the sarees directly from Sircilla weavers. Furthermore, she said the Congress administration did not procure bulk material from Surat. Seethakka urged KTR, Harish Rao and Kavitha to visit Sircilla and speak to the weavers responsible for the work. She argued that negative comments insulted the same artisans who supported Telangana for years.

Seethakka dismissed the claim that sarees were given only to select groups. Instead, she said local committees distributed them to women with memberships and to those without memberships as well. Additionally, she noted that BRS leaders opposed almost every welfare measure aimed at women.

The minister reminded that they even criticised the free bus scheme for women. She added that they circulated false claims about disputes among passengers. Seethakka advised them to welcome programs that help women rather than spread rumours. Ultimately, she said responsible leadership includes recognising progress and respecting women’s happiness.
