Seethakka distributes helmets to journalists in Armoor

Hyderabad: State minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka on Wednesday urged all two-wheeler riders and pillion riders to wear helmets without fail, stating that helmets remained the most effective protection against fatal road accidents.

Speaking at a helmet distribution programme in Armoor town, Seethakka said road safety required personal responsibility from every motorist. She stressed that wearing helmets should become a habit rather than an enforcement response.

As part of the Telangana Police road safety initiative, police distributed free helmets to print and electronic media journalists who regularly travel on two-wheelers. The programme took place at the Armoor municipal centre under the supervision of Telangana Police officials.

Officials said the initiative aimed to reduce road accident deaths and promote safe riding practices among frequent road users. Residents appreciated the police for taking preventive steps instead of reacting after accidents.

During the event, Seethakka personally handed over helmets to journalists, including for pillion riders. She said both riders and those seated behind faced equal risk during accidents.

Armoor MLA P Rakesh Reddy said awareness programmes played a key role in lowering accident rates. He added that community participation strengthened road safety campaigns.

The programme also saw participation from Telangana State Seed Development Corporation chairman Sunketa Anvesh Reddy, Armoor ACP J Venkateswara Reddy, Armur SHO Satyanarayana Goud and other police officials.

Police officers said similar helmet distribution and awareness drives would continue across the district to improve road safety compliance.
