Hyderabad: In a significant crackdown on street-level drug trafficking, the Hyderabad North Zone Task Force along with Bollarum Police arrested four individuals in Secunderabad for peddling ganja and seized a total of 3.8 kg of the contraband along with mobile phones and cash.
On a tip off, the arrests were made near Mission Model School in Bollarum. Two of the accused -Jwala Deepanshu Kumar (22), a Zomato delivery agent, and Ravula Naresh (18), a scrap dealer – were caught with 2.3 kg of ganja. Their interrogation led police to two others: Tamata Sanjay (24), a known rowdy-sheeter from Marredpally with 24 prior cases, and his cousin Tamata Shiva Singh (24), a suspect-sheeted transporter from Tukaramgate with 12 previous criminal records.
Police also seized five mobile phones and cash totalling ₹1.75 lakh from the gang.
According to investigators, the group sourced ganja from a supplier in Araku, Andhra Pradesh identified as Subba Rao, who is currently absconding. The contraband was transported to Hyderabad and sold in areas like Balaji Nagar, Yapral, Awal, Bollarum, and Tirumalagiri to fund their personal lifestyles.
The operation was led by Inspector P. Raghavendar and teams from the North Zone Task Force and Bollarum PS. Senior officers commended the quick response and coordination between the units.
