Sarvai Papanna Goud statue unveiled on Hyderabad Tank Bund

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy unveiled the Sarvai Papanna Goud statue on Tank Bund on Tuesday and paid tribute to the 18th-century Bahujan hero.

The Chief Minister recalled Papanna Goud’s fight against Mughal hegemony and feudal oppression. He said the chieftain’s legacy of self-respect and social justice continued to inspire the state government’s approach to governance.

Revanth Reddy also highlighted his administration’s commitment to recognising prominent historical figures from the region.

He said installing the Sarvai Papanna Goud statue alongside other eminent personalities on Tank Bund restored due recognition to an important figure in Telangana’s history.

Sarvai Papanna Goud statue ceremony draws senior leaders

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka attended the unveiling ceremony along with TPCC president Mahesh Goud. Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Sridhar Babu also participated. Minister Seethakka was present at the programme.

Government Advisor V. Hanumantha Rao also attended the event. MPs Vem Narender Reddy and Anil Kumar Yadav participated in the ceremony. Whip Birla Ilaiah and Balmur Venkat were also present.

MLAs Naveen Yadav, Sri Ganesh, Prakash Goud and Mandula Samel attended the programme. Kumbham Anil Kumar Reddy and Rajesh Reddy also joined the event. Former MP Madhu Yashki and leaders representing the BC community were among those present during the unveiling.

The ceremony placed the Sarvai Papanna Goud statue among the statues of other prominent personalities on Hyderabad’s Tank Bund. Revanth Reddy said the installation recognised Papanna Goud’s place in Telangana history and honoured his legacy of resistance, self-respect and social justice.
