Sanathnagar TIMS hospital to open on Ugadi

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will inaugurate Sanathnagar TIMS hospital on Ugadi and dedicate it to the public.

The government built the super speciality facility to provide free corporate-level treatment to the poor. Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha directed officials to complete all civil works and equipment trials before the launch.

He reviewed the progress at the Arogyasri Trust office in Hyderabad on Thursday. Senior officials, including Principal Secretary Dr Christina Z Chongthu and Family Welfare Commissioner Dr Sangeetha Satyanarayana, attended the meeting.

The Minister examined arrangements for OP rooms, diagnostics, wards, ICUs and operating theatres. Officials informed him that infrastructure works have reached the final stage.

The 1,000-bed hospital has 16 operating theatres ready for surgeries. Authorities completed installation of CT scan, MRI and digital X-ray machines. They are now installing other diagnostic equipment.

Sanathnagar TIMS to function as cardiac, transplant hub

The Minister instructed officials to complete all pending works by the second week of March. He also asked them to train technicians and staff before the inauguration.

Earlier, he had directed officials to develop Sanathnagar TIMS as a Centre of Excellence for Cardiac Care and Organ Transplantation. During the review, he assessed the progress of cath lab installations and transplant theatres. Officials said the cath lab works have reached the final stage, while OTs are ready for trial runs.

The Minister stated that the hospital will reduce patient load at NIMS, Osmania and Gandhi hospitals. He asked officials to coordinate with superintendents of these hospitals to refer patients awaiting surgeries.

He also reviewed the recruitment of professors, doctors, nurses and paramedical staff. Since it is a new hospital, he suggested utilising the services of senior doctors from DME and NIMS.

Further, he stressed the need for high standards in sanitation, security and patient care. A committee studied best practices followed in corporate hospitals, NIMS and AIIMS. Officials will implement those practices at Sanathnagar TIMS.

The Minister directed officials to integrate services through e-HMIS software from OP registration to discharge. He also suggested setting up a centralised kitchen to provide quality food to patients and attendants.

He instructed authorities to complete all minor pending works by March 15 and ensure Sanathnagar TIMS is fully ready for Ugadi inauguration.
