Hyderabad: Khairatabad Congress DCC President Rohin Reddy dismissed allegations made by Konda Sushmita, daughter of Minister Konda Surekha, amid the ongoing row involving the Minister’s former OSD, N. Sumanth.
Rohin Reddy rejects allegations, seeks call data check
Rohin Reddy said Sumanth had met him a few times but denied any wrongdoing. “He visited me occasionally, but I told him clearly that I wouldn’t get involved in the Deccan Cements issue,” he said.
He asserted that he never took part in any unlawful activity. Moreover, he said he was ready to face any investigation to prove his integrity. “I have nothing to hide,” Rohin said. He also claimed that he did not even know who Konda Sushmita was.
Background: confrontation at the Minister’s residence
Earlier this week, Task Force police reached Minister Konda Surekha’s residence in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills to question Sumanth over allegations of threatening Deccan Cements officials with a gun. The complaint, according to police, originated from Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.
However, Konda Sushmita stopped the police and accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and CM’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy are being accused of orchestrating a political vendetta.
She alleged that Rohin Reddy had called Sumanth to meet the Deccan Cements representatives. She also claimed that if Sumanth had a gun, Rohin must have brought it himself. Furthermore, she demanded that the police register a case against him and release their call data records.
Rohin demands verification of facts
Rohin Reddy said such claims were baseless and politically motivated. Therefore, he urged the police to retrieve and verify call data records to establish the facts. “I am open to scrutiny because I have done nothing wrong,” he said.
