Hyderabad: The Police Martyrs’ Memorial Day was observed with full honours at the Goshamahal Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy attended the event, unveiled the Police Martyrs’ Memorial, and paid floral tributes to fallen officers.
CM Revanth Reddy praises courage and commitment of Telangana Police
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said police represent trust and assurance for society. He praised their commitment, stating that officers perform their duties even when their lives are at risk.
He added that the government has given the police complete freedom to act. Therefore, they can function efficiently without fear or interference. Moreover, he promised continued support to the families of police martyrs in education and financial matters.
Telangana Police among the best in India, says CM
Revanth Reddy said Telangana Police hold a top position nationally in several areas. Additionally, he commended their constant vigilance in maintaining law and order.
Recently, the government formed a special Eagle Team to fight the growing drug menace. He noted that new crimes such as cyber fraud, digital morphing, and drug trafficking are emerging rapidly.
However, the Chief Minister said Telangana Police are countering these threats effectively. “Our police respond to technology-driven crimes with technology itself,” he said.
Furthermore, the State has set up a dedicated cybercrime division, placing Telangana among the leading States in cybercrime control.
CM appeals to Maoists to join mainstream society
Referring to the recent surrenders, the Chief Minister said several Maoists have already returned to normal life. He urged others to do the same and take part in Telangana’s progress.
Besides, he appealed to them to contribute positively to the State’s development.
Public government committed to police welfare
Revanth Reddy said the government has introduced several welfare initiatives for police personnel. In addition, he urged officers to carry out their duties without political pressure.
He pointed out that the government has recruited 16,000 constables and sub-inspectors since taking office. Consequently, the strength of the police force has increased significantly. He said Telangana provides the highest compensation in the country to the families of officers who die in service.
“Police duty is like walking on the edge of a sword,” he remarked. “They risk their lives so that citizens can live peacefully.”
