Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will attend the Police Commemoration Day ceremony at Goshamahal Police Stadium today. The event begins at 9.30 a.m., and the Chief Minister will address the gathering, said Telangana DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy.
Telangana observes Police Commemoration Day from October 21 to 31
The DGP said Telangana will observe the event until October 31, which coincides with National Unity Day, marking Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. Several remembrance programmes will take place across the State during this period.
This year, 191 police personnel across India, including five from Telangana, lost their lives in the line of duty. Police Commemoration Day has been observed since October 21, 1959, to honour ten CRPF personnel who died at Hot Springs, Ladakh, after a surprise Chinese attack led by SI Karan Singh.
Statewide tributes and welfare initiatives planned
The DGP said Telangana Suraksha will release a booklet highlighting the bravery of officers who sacrificed their lives last year. Officials will display posters and hoardings at major public locations to honour the martyrs.
Between October 22 and 24, senior police officers will visit the families of fallen personnel to address welfare needs and pay tributes at memorials in their native places.
They will also hold blood-donation camps at the DGP Office, Commissionerates, district headquarters, and TGSP battalions, supported by the Indian Red Cross and police cultural teams.
Cycle rallies and band performances to mark the observance
District police units will organise cycle rallies from October 25 to 27 to promote unity and peace. Police bands will perform at public spots, including Tank Bund, on weekends throughout the commemorative period.
