Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched a fierce attack on the BJP during the Congress-led ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ rally in Delhi. He accused the ruling party of attempting to strip voting rights from Dalits, Adivasis, minorities, and the poor people.
Speaking to thousands gathered at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, Reddy said the BJP was reviving RSS-driven efforts to dismantle hard-won constitutional protections.
He warned that democracy in India now faces a direct threat. According to him, voter list deletions and institutional manipulation are not isolated incidents but part of a larger plan. “First, they take away your voter card. Then your Aadhaar, your ration card. Finally, even your land,” he said, calling it a calculated attack on marginalised communities.
Moreover, Revanth Reddy pledged Telangana’s full support to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in this national fight. “This is not just a Congress issue. It affects every citizen. Telangana is ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with Rahul Gandhi to defend the Constitution,” he declared.
CM connects RSS ideology to voter deletions and democracy risks
Revanth Reddy linked the ongoing voter list purges to the broader RSS ideology. He said the BJP, by using state power, is targeting communities historically empowered by the Constitution. “The rights secured through Gandhi and Ambedkar’s struggles are under siege again,” he warned.
He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of deliberately attacking weaker sections. “Through voter revisions and city renaming, they’re undermining the foundations of democracy,” he said. Referring to the last general election, he added, “They aimed for 400 seats to rewrite the Constitution. But people limited them to 240. That saved reservations and our democracy.”
Revanth Reddy praised both Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for continuing Ambedkar and Gandhi’s legacy. He said their resistance wasn’t just for Congress – it was for the country. “They are standing up for every citizen’s rights,” he noted.
In conclusion, Revanth Reddy urged people across India to rally behind Rahul Gandhi. “This is no time for silence. It’s a time to resist,” he said. He assured that the Telangana Congress would fully support the national movement to safeguard constitutional rights and social justice.
