Revanth Reddy unveils Basaveshwara statue, pledges ₹494 crore development in Zaheerabad

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday unveiled a statue of Sri Basaveshwara Maharaj in Huggelli village, Zaheerabad mandal, Sangareddy district, while launching development initiatives worth ₹494.67 crore in Pastapur and addressing a public gathering.

The Chief Minister used the occasion to reaffirm his government’s commitment to completing the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) project in Medak district, which had been delayed under the previous administration. He confirmed that land acquisition had been accelerated and compensation packages for displaced families increased since Congress took office.

Revanth Reddy announced that Hyundai would soon commence operations in the region, marking a significant milestone for local employment and industrial development. As part of the government’s rehabilitation efforts, he revealed the sanctioning of 5,612 Indiramma houses for those displaced by the NIMZ project. Senior Congress leader Jagga Reddy has been tasked with overseeing the distribution of housing pattas and ensuring livelihoods for affected families.

The Chief Minister assured continued financial support for Zaheerabad Assembly Constituency and neighbouring Narayankhed, noting that local leaders had brought specific funding needs to his attention. He named Suresh Shetkar and Sanjeeva Reddy as pivotal figures in Narayankhed’s development.

In his address, Revanth Reddy reiterated the Congress government’s social welfare agenda. Measures include enhancement of Rythu Bharosa to ₹12,000 per acre, support for landless labourers, provision of 200 units of free electricity, subsidised LPG at ₹500, and free RTC bus travel for women. He also noted that women’s self-help groups now lease buses to the RTC, providing both empowerment and income.

He defended his administration’s employment record, accusing the former Chief Minister of failing to fulfil job promises and instead prioritising his own family. In contrast, Reddy said, the current government swiftly initiated recruitment drives upon assuming power.

Revanth Reddy declared his intent to regularly engage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to secure central funds for Telangana’s development, emphasising that his focus remains on governance, not politics, outside election cycles.

Appealing for greater democratic engagement, he urged the Leader of the Opposition to participate constructively in Assembly proceedings. “The Assembly is not just a platform for the ruling party. Opposition voices must be heard and must help improve governance,” he said.

Revanth Reddy underlined his commitment to inclusive development and humility in office. “Power should not create distance from the people. I will not rest until Telangana achieves its developmental goals,” he pledged.
