Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy appeared before the Nampally Special Court for People’s Representatives on Thursday in connection with multiple cases relating to alleged violations of the election code during the previous Assembly polls.
The cases, registered while Revanth Reddy was serving as the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, stem from controversial remarks he made concerning reservation policies. Separate FIRs were lodged at Begum Bazar, Nalgonda Two Town, and Medak’s Kowdipally police stations.
This marks the second occasion the Chief Minister has attended court proceedings since assuming office. On Thursday, he was present in person before the judge, as required in these ongoing hearings. Police maintained a heavy security presence at the court, barring entry to the general public and press near the hearing area.
Inside the courtroom, Revanth Reddy claimed the charges were politically driven and founded on falsehoods. He told the judge he had done nothing unlawful and dismissed the allegations as baseless. The court formally recorded his statement.
The Congress has previously accused the former Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government of orchestrating these cases as a form of political vendetta.
The Special Court has scheduled its verdict in the matter for June 12.
