CM Revanth voices concern over US tariff hikes, H-1B visa fee increase

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has expressed concern over the recent US tariff hikes on Indian goods and the proposed increase in H-1B visa fees. He raised the issues during a meeting with a visiting delegation from the United States in Hyderabad.

CM flags impact of visa fee hike on bilateral ties

The delegation included business leaders, policy experts, and philanthropic figures. They met with Revanth Reddy and Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu at the state Secretariat.

Revanth warned that increasing H-1B fees could harm economic ties between India and the US. He also said that abrupt tariff hikes create confusion and tension between the countries. He praised the Telangana diaspora for their role in the US economy and called for policies that maintain bilateral goodwill.

Telangana Rising 2047: Revanth outlines economic vision

The Chief Minister said his government aims to continue the state’s legacy of policy continuity. He launched the “Telangana Rising 2047” plan to build on existing growth. The roadmap targets a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and $3 trillion by 2047.

He said Hyderabad is now competing with global cities such as New York, Tokyo, and Seoul. The state’s focus is on infrastructure, manufacturing, and urban renewal.

US tariff hikes

Key projects: From Metro to Musi rejuvenation

Revanth listed several key infrastructure projects underway. These include the Regional Ring Road, Regional Ring Rail, Hyderabad Metro expansion, Bharat Future City, Musi Rejuvenation, and port connectivity with Andhra Pradesh.

He said the Musi riverfront project will boost tourism, nightlife, and the urban economy. “Hyderabad has the heritage and culture to support a vibrant riverfront,” he added.

Telangana pushes to lead ‘China+1’ strategy

The Chief Minister invited US investors to support the proposed Bharat Future City. He said Telangana is positioning itself as a lead state in the global ‘China+1’ strategy. He urged Fortune 500 firms to establish a base in the state.

AI University and indigenous industry in focus

Minister Sridhar Babu said Telangana will set up an AI University to become India’s skill capital. He emphasized upgrading Global Capability Centres (GCCs) to product-exporting hubs. He also pointed out that Hyderabad led in global vaccine supply and continues to support local manufacturers.
