Prostitution racket spreads in Nizamabad; police raids expose sex trade in lodges, private houses

Hyderabad: The prostitution racket in Nizamabad has expanded rapidly in recent months. Lodges and private houses across the city have turned into centres of illegal sex trade. Moreover, police raids have revealed that several individuals are running these activities under the cover of regular businesses.

Recently, police raided a lodge near the railway station and detained several men and women. Earlier, they carried out a similar operation at a hotel in Vinayak Nagar. Furthermore, on Friday, a team raided a lodge near the Armoor bus stand and caught several people red-handed.

Police raids reveal scale of prostitution racket in Nizamabad

Investigations revealed that many lodge owners rent rooms without checking any identification or verifying relationships between men and women. Consequently, they charge high rents while knowingly supporting these illegal acts. Locals, meanwhile, alleged that some of them promote prostitution for quick profits.

According to police sources, prostitution rackets are not limited to lodges. In fact, some private houses in areas such as Kanteshwar, Housing Board, Vidyut Nagar, and Gangasthan have also turned into hubs of high-end sex trade. Previously, police had busted similar rackets in these areas after receiving credible information.

Allegations of police negligence and local support

However, several residents accused a few police personnel of ignoring such operations. Reports suggest that certain rackets continue to thrive with indirect support from within the police department. Therefore, local activists demanded strict internal checks and stronger supervision.

They also pointed out that traffickers have been targeting college girls and single women. Using financial vulnerability as leverage, the gangs lure them with promises of easy money and modern lifestyles. As a result, several young women, facing rising living costs, fall prey to these traps.

Trafficking network targets college girls and single women

Sources added that organised gangs in Nizamabad, Armoor, and Bodhan supply college girls, single women, and housewives to clients. Shockingly, a few women have also joined these networks, trapping other women and pushing them into prostitution. Moreover, social workers noted that such exploitation has ruined many young lives.

Therefore, activists urged police to widen their focus beyond lodges and target those running trafficking operations. They demanded immediate action to rescue victims and protect women from exploitation. Furthermore, they called for stricter surveillance and stronger enforcement across the district.
