Hyderabad: Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Monday told senior officials to tighten planning for the Balkampet Yellamma Kalyanam, set to begin July 1.
He reviewed arrangements at the temple site and flagged gaps that had surfaced during last year’s event.
Crowd control, especially around queues and barricades, was marked as a priority. Police were directed to prevent repeat incidents.
Security is to be scaled up with CCTV coverage around the temple. Power backup, including mobile transformers and generators, must be kept ready.
The temple premises will require mobile toilets and lighting. He asked departments to avoid delays in these installations.
Officials were told to ensure steady supply of purified drinking water. Extra water tankers are to be stationed. Ambulances and medical teams should remain available at all hours.
Communication to the crowd should go through public address systems and LED displays.
Department heads from Endowments, GHMC, Police, and Revenue were told to monitor the Rathotsavam directly from a control room.
He stressed arrangements for women and children must not be compromised.
The meeting was attended by Mayor Gadwala Vijayalakshmi, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, Additional CP Vikram Singh Mann, Collector Hari Chandana Dasari, Endowment Commissioner Venkat Rao, Corporator Sarala and other officials.
