Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruti president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Monday demanded that the SIT expedite the probe into the phone tapping case and ensure punishment for those responsible.
Addressing a media conference in Hyderabad, Kavitha said the phone tapping case had remained under investigation for nearly two years. She criticised the delay and asked when the inquiry would finally conclude.
Referring to the ongoing probe, Kavitha said the SIT was handling the investigation. She made it clear that she was ready to cooperate with officials. If summoned, she said, she would attend the inquiry without hesitation.
Phone tapping case probe must conclude quickly, says Kavitha
Recalling the timeline, Kavitha said two years had passed since the investigation began. She questioned the government over the continued delay in completing the probe and punishing the guilty.
Expressing her expectations, she said former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao might disclose details of the SIT questioning. However, she added that questioning the investigation itself, as suggested by K T Rama Rao, was not appropriate.
Stressing civic responsibility, Kavitha said every citizen must respect the law and cooperate with investigating agencies. At the same time, she accused the Congress party of indulging in political theatrics over the issue.
Clarifying her position, the Telangana Jagruti president said she suspected that her phone and her husband’s phone were tapped. She reiterated that she would appear before the SIT if officials called her for questioning.
