People no longer trust Revanth Reddy, says BRS leader Vinod Kumar

Hyderabad: BRS leader and former MP Vinod Kumar said the people who once trusted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy during the elections have now lost faith in him. Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, he accused the Congress of misleading citizens over BC reservations and welcomed the High Court’s stay on G.O. 9.

Vinod Kumar attacks Congress over BC reservation issue

Kumar said the High Court’s stay on G.O. 9 clearly showed that people never believed in the Congress government’s sincerity. Moreover, he said the order on BC reservations was politically motivated and lacked constitutional merit. “The people had already given their verdict,” he said.

He explained that BCs never trusted Revanth Reddy’s claim of acting in good faith. “During elections, people believed him. Now, they don’t,” he remarked. Furthermore, he added that by Dussehra, voters had already realized that elections would not take place as promised.

BRS leader defends party’s commitment to BC rights

Kumar reminded that the BRS had lost the previous election by only 1.6 percent votes. He stated that criticism of the BRS by Bhatti Vikramarka was unjustified. “The BJP may criticize us for political reasons, but the Congress has no ground to attack,” he said.

He also recalled that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had passed a bill in the Assembly to enhance BC reservations and sent it to the Centre. However, the bill remained pending with the Union government. “This delay only proves that the BRS acted with sincerity,” he asserted.

Congress amended Constitution for power, not for BCs

Vinod Kumar said the Congress had once amended the Constitution to protect Indira Gandhi’s position when her post was under threat. Yet, he questioned why the party had not made a similar amendment after the Supreme Court’s Krishnamurthy judgment, which limited BC quota enhancement in local polls. “They amended it for Indira Gandhi but not for BCs,” he said.

Vinod Kumar questions Rahul Gandhi’s silence

He also accused Rahul Gandhi of hypocrisy. “Rahul hugs Modi in Parliament but never for BC reservations,” he said. Additionally, he questioned why Rahul Gandhi or Mallikarjun Kharge had not spoken in Parliament to increase BC quotas in Telangana. “The Congress always speaks deceitful words,” he said.

According to him, if Rahul and Modi truly cared about social justice, BC reservations would have been expanded long ago. Finally, Vinod Kumar concluded that India runs on the Constitution, not on anyone’s personal preferences or political convenience.
