Hyderabad: Ganesh Nayak, founding president of the Tribal Students’ Union, demanded the immediate release of pending scholarships for ST, SC and BC students. He raised the demand during a state-level meeting at Sundarayya Vigyan Kendra in Bagh Lingampally on Sunday.
The meeting brought together members of the students’ union for discussions on student issues. Meanwhile, the organisation also sought government action on several demands concerning tribal students and their community.
Nayak called for the immediate clearance of scholarship dues for students from the ST, SC and BC categories. He also demanded that the government declare Sewalal Maharaj Jayanti a state holiday.
In addition, the union sought an allocation of Rs. 100 crore to support its demands. The meeting also pressed for the establishment of a dedicated tribal university.
The organisation further proposed naming the proposed institution Sewalal Maharaj University. Separately, the meeting completed the election of office-bearers for the association.
Pending scholarships for students and new office-bearers
Venkat Banjara took charge as the national president of the association. Balaji Nayak became the state president, while Ganesh Nayak was elected as the AP president.
The leadership outlined its demands during the state-level gathering. The immediate release of pending scholarships remained a key demand raised for ST, SC and BC students.
The union also reiterated its demand for a state holiday on Sewalal Maharaj Jayanti. It further sought Rs. 100 crore and a tribal university named Sewalal Maharaj University.
