Indiramma housing scheme

Hyderabad: Telangana’s Housing and Revenue Minister P Srinivas Reddy on Friday announced that over 2.1 lakh beneficiaries have been identified so far under the Indiramma Housing Scheme across the state. He assured that the final list of remaining beneficiaries would be completed by 10 June.

Speaking at a press conference, Srinivas Reddy explained that the government had cleared a pilot project to build 42,000 houses, out of which construction had already begun on 24,000. He said nearly 100 houses were now ready for occupation, with beneficiaries set to receive their keys soon.

Highlighting the inclusive approach, Reddy said that opposition MLAs had also been asked to submit 40 percent of the names, while the remaining 60 percent would be finalised by Indiramma committees. He criticised former minister K.T. Rama Rao, alleging that he had failed to submit any list and had simply directed officials to select the beneficiaries on their own.

Turning his attention to tribal welfare, Srinivas Reddy revealed that 9,200 houses had been sanctioned for Chenchu tribals within the ITDA’s jurisdiction. He also announced plans to build four-storey residential complexes in 16 slum areas of Hyderabad, with similar housing projects on the cards for Warangal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar, and Nalgonda districts.
