Hyderabad: A Nampally court has issued non-bailable warrants against Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay and Telangana Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy after both failed to appear in connection with separate criminal cases.
Reddy is facing charges related to a Model Code of Conduct violation during the 2019 bypolls. The case, registered at the Nereducharla police station, was scheduled for a hearing, but the minister did not show up. The court has now pushed the matter to August 7.
Meanwhile, Bandi Sanjay’s warrant stems from a 2022 clash at a paddy procurement centre in Miryalaguda. At the time, he was state president of the BJP and had led a protest demanding minimum support prices for farmers. Tensions flared between BJP and BRS workers, and several people were reportedly injured in the altercation. The court has set the next hearing in that case for August 13.
In a separate case also involving Bandi Sanjay – this one tied to another Model Code of Conduct violation in Huzurabad – a non-bailable warrant was also issued. His counsel, advocate Karunasagar, said a recall petition has been filed, with the hearing set for July 30.
