HYDERABAD: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed flyover at the BHEL junction along National Highway 65, formally dedicating the project to the nation.
The long-anticipated infrastructure addition, located in the Ramachandrapuram area of Sangareddy district, is expected to significantly ease vehicular congestion at one of the city’s busiest intersections. The BHEL flyover is part of a larger set of initiatives aimed at improving connectivity between Hyderabad and its rapidly expanding suburban and industrial zones.
After inaugurating the flyover, Minister Gadkari travelled over the newly opened stretch up to Chandanagar, took a U-turn, and proceeded by road to ICRISAT. From there, he departed for Hyderabad via helicopter.
Despite the celebratory nature of the occasion, the event saw minor discontent among local BJP workers. Several party members who had arrived to greet the Union Minister were reportedly denied access to the stage, leading to some frustration among grassroots leaders.
Among those present at the ceremony were local MLA Gandhi, Additional Collector Chandrashekhar, Revenue Divisional Officer Ravinder Reddy, corporators Pushpa Nagesh and Nagender Yadav, BJP district president Godavari, division president Narsing Goud, and party leaders Panduranga Reddy, Devender Yadav, Bucchireddy, Malla Reddy, Indra Reddy, Aillesh, and Vijay.
The new BHEL flyover is expected to bring relief to thousands of daily commuters navigating NH-65, particularly during peak hours. The project is seen as a crucial step toward enhancing regional mobility and supporting economic growth in western Hyderabad.
