Hyderabad: Senior BJP leader N. Ramchander Rao formally took charge as the new president of the party’s Telangana unit on Saturday, taking over in a ceremony marked by party enthusiasm and traditional rituals.
The event at the BJP state office in Hyderabad drew Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, MP D.K. Aruna, senior functionaries, and a large gathering of party workers who congratulated Rao and honoured him with shawls and garlands.
Earlier, Ramchander Rao led a rally from his residence to the party headquarters, accompanied by scores of BJP supporters. Before officially assuming charge, he offered prayers at the Saraswati Devi temple on the Osmania University campus and performed rituals at the Bhagyalakshmi temple near Charminar.
The leadership transition comes as the party looks to strengthen its organisational network and prepare strategies for upcoming elections in Telangana.
