Hyderabad: Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna on Thursday urged the Centre to immediately sanction Central schools for the Peddapalli–Mancherial region. He raised the issue in the Lok Sabha, highlighting the “dire and unacceptable” condition of education for SC-ST children in his constituency.
Broken infrastructure and poor access plague education
Speaking under Article 21A of the Constitution—which guarantees the Right to Education—Vamsi described the harsh realities students face. “Children are forced to walk long distances to reach schools. Many institutions lack teachers. Government hostels are in disrepair,” he said. According to him, these failures reflect a systemic collapse.
Vamsi alleged that an earlier request for a Navodaya school was diverted to a neighboring constituency by an opposition MP. He demanded that the Centre now approve a Navodaya Vidyalaya in Dharmapuri without delay.
MP demands four key institutions
In addition to the Navodaya school, Vamsi called for the sanctioning of:
- An Ekalavya Model Residential School
- A Kendriya Vidyalaya
- A Sainik School
He emphasized that these institutions are essential to improving education for marginalised communities.
“Education is the biggest equaliser,” he says
Quoting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Vamsi said, “Education is the biggest equaliser.” He argued that every child, regardless of background, deserves the same opportunities that transformed Ambedkar’s life.
Calling for immediate release of funds, the MP urged the Centre to treat this as a national responsibility. “This is our responsibility, our fight, our promise,” he concluded, demanding action over delay.

I emphasised the importance of ensuring 25% reservation for SC/ST students in private schools, and highlighted the pending request for a… pic.twitter.com/sk4bmYd5a6
