HYDERABAD: BJP Rajya Sabha member Laxman has criticised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his recent remarks concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s caste.
During an MLC election campaign in Sangareddy district on Saturday, Laxman accused Reddy of speaking without proper understanding, suggesting that the Chief Minister believes criticising the Prime Minister will enhance his own reputation. Laxman emphasised that Prime Minister Modi is a leader for all people and recalled that similar unfounded comments by Rahul Gandhi in the past led to public disapproval.
He also highlighted issues with the state’s comprehensive survey, describing it as chaotic and incomplete. Furthermore, Laxman alleged that the Congress party is attempting to gain political advantage by including Muslims in the Backward Classes (BC) category, reiterating the BJP’s opposition to religion-based reservations. He expressed confidence in BJP candidates’ success in the upcoming MLC elections and cautioned that the public is growing weary of Reddy’s language, advising the Chief Minister to adopt a more measured approach.
Laxman also refuted Congress’s claims that the central government has neglected Telangana, stating that substantial funds have been allocated to the state.
