Mohammed Azharuddin takes charge as Telangana Minister for Minority Welfare and Public Enterprises

Hyderabad: Former Indian cricket captain and Congress leader Mohammed Azharuddin on Monday took charge as Telangana Minister for Minority Welfare and Public Enterprises. He arrived at the Secretariat with his family and assumed office amid Muslim prayers.

Azharuddin thanked Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for his trust and said he would uphold the confidence placed in him. He assured that he would work sincerely for the welfare of minorities and the state’s development. Several party leaders and officials congratulated him after he took charge.

Mohammed Azharuddin assumes charge of both portfolios

Azharuddin had taken oath as a minister on October 31, administered by Governor C Ponnaiyan Jishnu Dev Varma. Later, on November 4, the government assigned him the Minority Welfare and Public Enterprises portfolios. He formally assumed charge of both departments today.

Officials from both departments welcomed him at his new office and briefed him on key programs. Azharuddin said he would review ongoing welfare schemes soon and ensure that all commitments of the Revanth Reddy government reach people effectively.
