HYDERABAD, February 3: The Election Commission has released the notification for elections to two teachers’ and one graduate Member of Legislative Council (MLC) seats in Telangana. The nomination process has already begun, with candidates allowed to file nominations from February 3 to February 10, between 11 AM and 3 PM.
The scrutiny of nominations will take place on February 11, and candidates can withdraw their nominations until February 13. The final list of contesting candidates will be announced thereafter. The elections are scheduled for February 27, with polling from 8 AM to 4 PM. The counting of votes will be conducted on March 3.
With the announcement of the election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct is now in force in the respective constituencies. The vacant MLC seats include the Khammam-Warangal-Nalgonda Teachers’ Constituency and the Karimnagar-Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad Graduate Constituency.
Election officials have been designated for the process, with Nalgonda Collector Ila Tripathi overseeing the teachers’ constituency elections and Karimnagar Collector Pamela Satpathy handling the graduate constituency elections.
Nominations for the Khammam-Warangal-Nalgonda Teachers’ Constituency are being accepted at the Nalgonda Collectorate. The region covers 12 newly formed districts, with a total of 24,905 registered voters. Authorities have set up 200 polling stations across 191 mandals for smooth conduct of the elections.
In the Karimnagar, Medak, Nizamabad, and Adilabad Graduate Constituency, there are 3,41,313 registered voters, including three third-gender voters. The number of registered teacher voters stands at 25,921. To facilitate voting, officials will establish 499 polling stations for graduate voters and 274 polling stations for teacher voters across the four districts.
With election preparations underway, officials are ensuring all necessary arrangements are in place for a smooth electoral process.
