MLA Medipalli Sathyam seeks funds for Chilaka Vagu development

Hyderabad: Choppadandi MLA Medipalli Sathyam raised the long-pending issue of the Chilaka Vagu stream in Kodimyal mandal of Jagtial district in the Assembly, seeking funds for its cleaning, development, and beautification.

The MLA told the House that Chilaka Vagu overflowed with floodwater during the monsoon. He said the stream turned into a drain during the rest of the year. He stated that decades of neglect had worsened local problems and affected public health.

Medipalli Sathyam urged the government to sanction special funds to improve cleanliness and water flow. He said the project would address pollution and reduce seasonal flooding in the mandal centre.

Chilaka Vagu development proposed as public and tourism asset

Medipalli Sathyam suggested developing the stream surroundings with a walking track, lighting, and green cover. He said these facilities would provide a healthy environment for residents. He added that the area could also emerge as a local tourism attraction.

Medipalli Sathyam said the proposed works would change the face of the village. He also linked the Chilaka Vagu revival with the planned restoration of the bus stand.

Following the Assembly intervention, village sarpanch Jeevan Reddy and local residents thanked the MLA. They said the development would bring new life to the village.

Residents expressed hope that the government would implement the project without delay. They said public cooperation would help restore Chilaka Vagu to its original state.
