Hyderabad: Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Friday said that large-scale preparations were in full swing for the Medaram Adivasi Tribal Fair, the largest tribal congregation in Asia. He inspected the works at Medaram along with Ministers Sitakka, Konda Surekha, and MP Balaram Nayak.
Government pushes infrastructure to meet rising footfall
The minister said permanent infrastructure projects were progressing swiftly. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had instructed officials to prioritise tribal customs while improving facilities for lakhs of visiting devotees. The shrines of Sammakka, Saralamma, Pagididda Raju, and Govinda Raju are central to the event.
Ponguleti directed engineers and workers to operate in shifts. He told them to complete road works, dividers, plantations, and amenities without delay. The shrine area’s holding capacity is being expanded from 3,000 to 10,000 to accommodate the rising number of pilgrims.
Access routes, shrine surroundings getting major facelift
Officials are fast-tracking work on the main approach road and installing large welcome arches. The minister said that access routes for offering traditional ‘bangaram’ (jaggery) are also being streamlined. Moreover, beautification around the Jampanna vagu is underway.
Ponguleti assured that every development aligns with tribal traditions. Jatara priests and tribal elders are actively guiding the planning process. Their inputs are shaping each stage of the work.
Principal Secretary KS Srinivasa Raju and R&B ENC Mohan Naik joined the inspection team during the review of the ongoing arrangements.
