Man, livestock killed in NH-365 crash near Kothagudem

Hyderabad: A road accident on National Highway 365 near Kothagudem village in Tungaturthi mandal claimed the life of a farmer and several goats on Wednesday, casting a shadow over Sankranti celebrations in the region. This tragic Kothagudem crash has left many grieving.

According to police and family members, 40-year-old Kancham Veeranna of Kothagudem was herding his goats to his agricultural field when a speeding car struck him near the village toll gate. The car, reportedly travelling from Warangal to Hyderabad via Madira, was driven by a man identified as Jaswal Nishan. The Kothagudem crash occurred suddenly, leaving little chance for Veeranna to react.

The collision resulted in the immediate death of five goats, while three others were seriously injured. Veeranna sustained multiple injuries, including fractures to his leg and arm, along with a severe head injury.

He was initially taken to Suryapet Government Hospital for treatment. As his condition worsened, doctors referred him to NIMS Hospital in Hyderabad. However, he succumbed to his injuries en route. The aftermath of the Kothagudem crash has devastated his family.

Veeranna is survived by his wife and two children.

Station House Officer Sudhakar confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. The car involved in the accident veered off the road into a nearby field after hitting Veeranna and his livestock. Meanwhile, authorities continue to gather details surrounding the Kothagudem crash.

The incident occurred on Sankranti, a major harvest festival in Telangana, turning a day of celebration into one of mourning for the local community.
