Hyderabad, January 11: A 32-year-old man from West Godavari district, identified as Ramesh, was arrested on Friday by the Panjagutta police for murdering his friend following a dispute over a loan repayment. The police recovered Rs. 91,500 in cash, gold jewellery, five mobile phones, a car, and a two-wheeler from the accused.
According to the police, Ramesh worked as a hotel room service boy and had a criminal history. In 2013, he was arrested for the murder of a man, during which he stole gold jewellery, a mobile phone, and a vehicle. After securing bail, he relocated to Hyderabad.
While working at a real estate office, Ramesh became acquainted with Vishnuroop, 45, a grocer from Yellareddyguda. Ramesh mortgaged his car to Vishnuroop for Rs. 20,000 but failed to repay the loan. When he later demanded the return of his car, Vishnuroop refused.
Enraged by this, Ramesh lured Vishnuroop to his room in Ameerpet and strangled him to death. Following a complaint from Vishnuroop’s family, the police launched an investigation and arrested Ramesh.
The Panjagutta police are continuing their investigation into the case while the accused remains in custody.
