HYDERABAD: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed five newborn puppies in a barbaric manner at an apartment complex in Hyderabad’s Fatehnagar area.
According to residents, the puppies were just six days old and had been peacefully resting in the cellar of a gated community where they were born. The mother, a street dog, had taken shelter there to protect her litter from the scorching summer heat.
However, a resident of the same apartment complex, identified as Ashish, allegedly killed the puppies in an extremely cruel fashion. Eyewitnesses and CCTV footage reportedly showed him throwing one puppy to the ground, smashing another against a wall, and crushing a third under his foot. In this horrifying spree, he allegedly killed all five puppies.
Residents became suspicious after noticing the puppies lying dead. Upon reviewing CCTV footage from the apartment’s security cameras, they discovered the shocking truth.
When confronted by fellow residents and animal lovers, Ashish reportedly responded with indifference, claiming that the puppies had come near his pet dog and that was the reason he killed them.
Following the incident, a formal complaint was lodged at the Alwal Police Station.
Animal welfare activist Mudavat Preeti expressed anguish over the rising cases of cruelty against animals, especially on the streets. She demanded strict legal action and harsher punishments to deter such acts in future. Preeti emphasised that no one has the right to take a life, especially of defenceless animals, and called the act unforgivable.
She warned that unless stringent punishments are enforced, such horrific incidents are likely to recur.
