Madhu Yaskhi Goud calls for united fight to protect Constitution

Hyderabad: AICC Professional Congress chairman Madhu Yaskhi Goud called for a united effort to protect Constitution and defend citizens’ rights. Speaking to the media on Saturday, he alleged that constitutional safeguards had come under threat since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014. He said Rahul Gandhi established the Professional Congress in 2017 to help protect the Constitution. Accordingly, he urged professionals across political parties to join the effort, regardless of their Congress membership.

Madhu Yaskhi accused the Modi government of removing 13 crore votes through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. He claimed that Dalits, Adivasis and minorities accounted for a large share of the affected voters. He said his side had presented evidence relating to the alleged deletions. Furthermore, he stressed that the campaign against SIR was not about the Congress party’s future but about the future of the country’s people.

He also accused the BJP-led government of undermining citizens’ freedoms. Meanwhile, he pledged to discharge the responsibilities entrusted to him as Professional Congress chairman effectively. He said the current situation required professionals to work together to safeguard constitutional rights and democratic values.

Protect Constitution campaign seeks wider participation from professionals

Madhu Yaskhi said the Professional Congress aimed to bring skilled people from different fields into public service. He noted that professionals, including barristers, lawyers and doctors, had played an important role in India’s freedom struggle. Therefore, he argued that professionals must now contribute to protecting constitutional rights and ensuring a dignified life for every citizen.

He said the Manmohan Singh Fellowship had provided one year of training to 50 talented people from different fields. In the second round, the programme received 800 applications and trained 100 candidates, he added. According to Madhu Yaskhi, these initiatives helped identify professionals who could contribute their expertise to public issues.

He also said Rahul Gandhi wanted professionals to maintain credibility in their work. For this reason, the organisation had formed a committee comprising experts from different sectors. Madhu Yaskhi said the Professional Congress would continue working during the current challenging period to defend citizens’ rights and constitutional protections.

He reiterated that people who belonged to other political parties, as well as those without Congress membership, could participate in the initiative. He called on professionals to contribute their knowledge and skills to the wider effort to protect the Constitution and uphold citizens’ dignity.
