KTR vows justice for HYDRAA victims, blames Congress bulldozer policy

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday accused the Congress-led government of using the HYDRAA campaign to target the poor through selective demolitions, calling it “bulldozer justice.”

Speaking at Telangana Bhavan after meeting with affected residents, Rama Rao alleged that the initiative, which was launched under the banner of urban development, had become a political tool to punish the marginalised while shielding the powerful. He stated that BRS would fight for justice in courts, on the streets, and within the Assembly to defend the victims.

He declared that, if denied relief now, the BRS would return to power and offer permanent shelter to those displaced by the drive. “We have not harmed anyone in the last decade. Give us 500 days. The KCR government will return and deliver justice to all HYDRAA victims. I take personal responsibility,” he said.

Justice for HYDRAA victims central to BRS comeback promise

Rama Rao accused the Revanth Reddy-led administration of demolishing homes without warning, often in the middle of the night. He said families, including pregnant women and children, were evicted without notice, while illegal structures of politically connected individuals were left untouched.

He cited alleged encroachments by Congress figures, including Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and G Vivek, Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, and MLA Arekapudi Gandhi. “HYDRAA lacks the courage to act against them. Demolitions stop where political influence begins,” he said.

Displaying photos of affected families, Rama Rao called the campaign a betrayal of Congress’s own past promises. “Revanth Reddy once called demolitions inhuman. He said the poor deserved empathy and land regularisation. Now he sends bulldozers instead,” Rama Rao added.
