Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Friday launched a blistering attack on the Congress government for arresting unemployed youth who attempted to protest over unfulfilled job calendar promises. He termed the detentions “inhuman and undemocratic,” accusing the government of betrayal.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s promise of two lakh jobs within a year, KTR said those who questioned that commitment are now being arrested. “Is this the same Revanth Reddy who hosted a ‘chai pe charcha’ with job-seekers at Ashok Nagar? Now that he’s CM, has he forgotten the job calendar he promised?” he asked.
He said the Congress’s attempt to block the ‘Chalo Secretariat’ rally by pre-emptively detaining youth across districts was disgraceful. “Arresting those who came to express their concerns at the Secretariat today is a sign of a crumbling democracy,” he said.
KTR further alleged that Revanth Reddy betrayed unemployed youth under the guise of ‘Youth Declaration’. “In 18 months, he hasn’t even issued 10,000 notifications. The same CM is now taking credit for 60,000 appointments processed under the BRS government,” he said.
He slammed the Congress for backtracking on its manifesto promise of two lakh jobs and accused it of mocking the unemployed by claiming they don’t want notifications anymore. “This level of political degeneration is shocking,” KTR said.
He warned that if the government does not release all detained youth and honour its job calendar commitment, the BRS would launch a state-wide agitation. “The voice of Telangana’s unemployed cannot be silenced with arrests. We will expose this betrayal door to door, and hold the Congress accountable in every public space,” he said.
