Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday accused the Congress-led Telangana government of targeting low-income families with demolition drives while turning a blind eye to illegal buildings owned by powerful individuals. He claimed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s administration punishes the weak but shields the influential.
Using Twitter as his platform, KTR questioned the fairness of the government’s actions. “Is this governance—where homes of struggling families are torn down immediately, but the rich get endless grace periods?” he wrote.
‘612 low-income homes razed while VIPs left untouched’
According to KTR, officials demolished 612 homes of economically weaker residents in the past 15 months. However, he pointed out that the government took no action against unauthorized structures linked to ruling party leaders, ministers, or senior bureaucrats.
He criticised the government’s inconsistency. “Is this what Indiramma Rajyam stands for—bulldozing homes of the most vulnerable?” he asked.
KTR calls Hydra initiative a front for political targeting
KTR also condemned the government’s ‘Hydra’ operation in Hyderabad. He claimed it was a cover for what he described as “destructive, corrupt, and politically motivated action.” Moreover, he warned that the state was promoting fear, not justice. “Is ‘Remove the poor’ the new slogan of the Congress?” he said.
To counter these actions, he announced that the BRS would hold a press conference at 11 a.m. Monday at Telangana Bhavan. “We will raise our voices for those whose rights have been trampled,” he added.
