KTR slams arrest of Kaushik Reddy, calls it act of political vendetta

Hyderabad: BRS working president K T Rama Rao on Saturday denounced the arrest of Huzurabad MLA Kaushik Reddy, describing it as illegal and politically motivated.

He said Kaushik Reddy was detained at the Shamshabad airport in a move he termed “highly disgraceful”. KTR blamed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directly, accusing him of targeting the MLA for repeatedly questioning alleged corruption by ministers and irregularities within the Congress-led government.

According to KTR, the state administration had been working for months to fabricate cases and intimidate Kaushik Reddy for raising issues concerning public welfare. He alleged the government was resorting to “petty tactics” and frivolous cases to suppress dissent, but claimed such attempts would not weaken the resolve of BRS leaders.

He said the Revanth-led government, despite calling itself Indiramma Rajyam, had turned authoritarian and was stifling voices of dissent in a manner that reminded people of the Emergency era.

KTR alleged that Revanth Reddy had failed to fulfil election promises and was now resorting to diversionary arrests to cover up administrative failure. He demanded Kaushik Reddy’s unconditional release and said the BRS had full faith in the judiciary.

He added that no number of “fabricated cases” would hold up in court. KTR said the BRS would continue its political fight on behalf of the people, regardless of how many cases the government filed.
