Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao accused the Congress government in Telangana of betraying farmers and attacked the BJP-led Centre for burdening common people. He spoke at Telangana Bhavan where Dr. Rohit Reddy, Dr. Gouthami Reddy, and other leaders from different parties joined the BRS.
KTR lashes out at Congress in Telangana
KTR alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy failed to deliver promises made in the farmer declaration. He said police beat farmers demanding urea, calling it shameful. According to him, a tribal youth even faced third-degree torture during a protest in Suryapet.
He criticised Congress for stalling development in Karimnagar. Leaders Gangula Kamalakar and Vinod Kumar, he said, had worked hard to secure Smart City status, but the Congress government blocked the project. Inspired by Dr. Gouthami Reddy, he urged educated youth to enter politics and safeguard Telangana from both Congress and BJP.
KTR also recalled the words of late Prof. Jayashankar that “Telangana’s political self-identity is its true safeguard.” He said the Revanth Reddy government had failed to deliver any meaningful work even after months in power. He added that farmers continued to suffer and tears filled their eyes under Congress rule.
Mocking Rahul Gandhi’s slogan, KTR asked: “Is beating farmers what you call Mohabbat ki Dukaan?” He demanded that people reflect on why Telangana had reached this state under Congress leadership.
KTR targets Modi on GST and price hikes
Turning to the Centre, KTR said Prime Minister Narendra Modi collected ₹15 lakh crore through GST in the past eight years by imposing unfair slabs. He mocked Modi for reducing slabs just before the Bihar elections. In his view, such timing exposed electoral opportunism.
He demanded that the Centre return the collected funds to the people. Moreover, he asked what happened to Modi’s promises doubling farmers’ income, giving houses to all the destitute, and introducing bullet trains. He also questioned the pledge to deposit ₹15 lakh in every citizen’s account by bringing back black money.
KTR criticised price hikes sharply. LPG cylinders, once ₹350, now cost ₹1,200. Petrol, which sold for ₹65, crossed ₹100. Instead of slogans, he said, lowering these costs would give real relief to people.
